“Gunned Down” Explores the NRA, Politics, And Public Safety (Frontline Video)

This entry is part 2 of 2 in the seriesGUN VIOLENCE Series

FRONTLINE investigates the complex political dynamics of America’s gun debate. Filmmaker Michael Kirk looks at the NRA, influence on branches of government, and citizens caught in the crossfire of Second Amendment concerns and those of public safety. The documentary raises several questions. Is one of the most aggressive lobby efforts rooted in Second Amendment concerns or gun industry economics?  If the public is willing to bounce politicians that are for gun control, should the public shoulder some of the blame for massacres such as Sandy Hook? Given the influence of the gun lobby on the leadership of both major political parties, what does it say about the efficacy of American democracy for ordinary citizens who view gun control as a key ingredient for public safety?
