Trayvon, We’ll Never Forget You

There are seasons when our souls search for meaning. We grasp for ways to respond to that which troubles us deeply. Words are so inadequate. And yet, words are what we have to offer. In these words, please know that our hearts are broken. We’ll never forget Trayvon Benjamin Martin. He paid the ultimate sacrifice that has brought us to a greater humanity and into a closer relationship with our Lord.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Martin,

I want to send my deepest condolences to you both. I too am a parent and my heart has grieved about this. Know that God is IN this and will see justice prevail. I also know that Trayvon is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.May knowledge of this give you peace in your hearts and may your confidence always lie in Him. I love you in Christ. God bless.

My Thoughts:

Dear Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin...

It is with a heavy heart that I write this today. Trayvon did not get the justice he deserved and nothing can bring him back. You are in my prayers as you and the rest of us try to make sense of this. You are not alone as there are millions of Trayvons across the country. This will not bring back your son but just know that our hearts, spirits, and prayers are with you.

My Thoughts:

I am very sad about the untimely loss of your son, Trayvon Martin. This tragic event has been on my mind since learning of it. The country is not all racists. Some of us who are not black care about a world that we can truly be at peace with all. I will make a deeper commitment to improve race relationships.

I pray that the martins stay strong this is not over I pray that trayvon is resting in peace I pray that zimmerman knows he will never be free he killed a child no matter what race he killed a child he made world news everyone knows his face alot of people are outraged and angry and disappointed and heartbroken I pray that he knows we cant control the actions of others I pray that he understands u reap what you sow and at the end of the day he knows and understands god dont like ugly and I pray that the federal courts take over and show him that wrong is wrong and u cant get away with murder it will catch up to u! I pray for trayvon as if he where my brother cousin son or family! God is good and at the end of the day the 6 8 or 12 jury and that one judge has no comparison to our god he makes the final judgment!

My Thoughts:

To the Martin family, I am extremely sadden by the loss of your son, brother, cousin, and grandson -- Trayvon. When any child leaves us, it is troubling. When violence snuffs the life out of a child, it is tragic. And when justice hides her face in such matters, it is a travesty. My family has seen a number of murders, several unsolved -- including one just a few weeks ago. These murders and following the murder trial of George Zimmerman have heightened my resolved to work that unfair laws are changed and unhealthy activity within our communities are discouraged. Through you came the life of one who is undoubtedly this generation's Emmett Till. Though we did not know him in life, so many have heavy hearts of Trayvon in death. I will not forget Trayvon Martin. And commit to taking his spirit with me in the march towards justice.
